Happy Thanksgiving!

OK, so this post is just a few days late (ok, so a week), but I still wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

We've had a couple of firsts around here lately. The first "first" was the first snow of the season. The day before Thanksgiving it snowed for most of the day. The result of this is not as exciting as it sounds. We did have 1 or 2 inches on the ground, but they melted before the day was over. It also snowed on Thanksgiving day, but that also melted quickly. Unfortunately, our garage door opener had broken so we, for the first time since we moved in, parked the cars in the driveway instead of the garage. That's what we get for being lazy!

Another "first" also has to do with the house. It's the first time we have more shelf space than books. Usually, our books far out number any space we have to put them on and have had to stay in boxes. We finally bought some shelves as a start to our library. It's been exciting for everyone! Steve and I can finally find the books we need, and Evie has whole bunches of books to pull off the shelves. We were even able to fit all our DVDs, VHSs, and CDs on some of the shelf space.

The last "first" was a big one. Evie has taken her first steps! She's been standing and cruising around the furniture for about a month, but yesterday she took her first steps without holding on to anything. She's also been a lot more brave about standing without holding on to anything. I did get video of her first steps, and here it is. Sorry it is blurry. I took it with the digital camera instead of the video camera. I didn't have the video camera on hand. She hasn't taken any more steps on her own since then, but she does stand on her own and sometimes she looks like she is ready to just take off.

Evie and the library

Evie picking out a book to read. Posted by Picasa

Steve and I recently unpacked all our books to clean out the spare bedroom, now called "Alex's room". Unfortunately, we don't have nearly enough bookshelf space to fit even half the books we own so most of the books had to stay in boxes on the floor. Evie is loving this! Not only does she have plenty of places to pull herself up on, but she also has cool things to look at once she is standing. Also, there is the challenge of pulling all the books out of the boxes, which she hasn't quite mastered, thankfully.

Some of these pictures were added with 2 new programs that we downloaded that are supposed to make it easier to add pictures to our blog. We'll see. At the very least, the above picture was added with the new programs, we'll see if we can get the rest added with them.

Lastly, Evie tooth update: She now has at least 4 full-fledged baby teeth and is working on more. It looks like she has 3 or 4 more that are currently coming in. My baby is growing up! If I can a get picture of her big smile (harder to do than you would think it would be), then I'll post it here.

Trying to dislodge a folder from Mommy's box Picking out a book Daddy would be proud of

Is she picking out a book, or is she trying figure out how many she can pull off at a time? After a long day in the home library
