More Travel Fun

Sunday was spent driving, so we decided to end our day with a little fun. We went to Young's Dairy, a local farm/tourist spot. Evie had a blast!! She rode a tractor ride, had her first ice cream cone, didn't feed the goats (yes, I said "didn't"), and tried her hand at mini-golf. Alex even got in on the fun by staying awake most of the time.

Yesterday morning, Evie and Alex had a fun playtime. Once again, Alex obliged us by staying awake so we could have some fun. Evie is a great big sister. She's even teaching Alex how to use a cell phone despite the fact he can't hold the phone and doesn't know how to talk.

Yea for Evie and Alex!

Niagara Falls, NY

It's 2pm Friday afternoon. Steve and I have just had lunch, and we are driving back to the base to drop Steve off.

Steve says, "How about we go on a short trip this weekend?"

I say, "Great! Where should we go?"

We figured out we had already been north (lots of MI trips), south (done FL twice), east (been to PA quite a few times) and west (done IN, IL, & WI). But we hadn't driven northeast yet! What exactly is northeast that would be fun to visit?? Apparently Cleveland just isn't that exciting for us, because we decided to head to Niagara Falls. And that's just where we are now (I'm typing in a dark room, trying to be quite while my two babies get their beauty rest)! We left yesterday (Friday) around 6pm (only 4 hours to plan, pack and get on the road; my best time record yet!) and drove until we hit just northeast of Cleveland. We stayed in a hotel for the night, then continued our journey around 10am this morning. We reached the falls around 3pm this afternoon (1 hour for lunch, plus who know how much more time on many other stops) and walked all the paths in the Niagara Falls State Park. Around 5pm, we decided it was probably a good idea to find a hotel and some dinner. Here we are at the Comfort Inn (closest hotel to the falls!) with a somewhat decent view of the river (not the actual falls though). I'll hopefully have a picture out our window tomorrow, just not enough time for that today. I do have pictures of us enjoying the falls though.

Alexander mostly ate and slept his way through the park (we took his picture just to prove that I really was carrying him!), but Evie really enjoyed herself. The first picture has the American Falls in the back ground, while the next picture with Steve & Evie is taken at the top of Bridal Falls. In the last 2 pictures, you have to really look hard to find the falls (it's Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side), but it really is there! The picture of Evie in her pajamas was not taken next to any of the falls (we were in a hotel somewhere in northeastern Ohio, don't ask me which city) but was too cute to not put up on the web.

Join us next month for our next exciting trip!

Happy Easter!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! For the Grandparents (and anyone else who might be interested) here are the pictures of the kids:

OK, so most of the pictures are of Evie, but, as cute as Alex is, he's just not that exciting. Despite the fact he's spent the last couple of days a little more alert, he chose today as his very sleepy day. Hence, the picture of him sleeping. I even bought him an Easter outfit of his own, but he spit up all over it before I could get a picture of him in it. Sigh!

And now for some pictures of the Easter present Steve and I bought for ourselves.

We suddenly realized that our little Civic wasn't going to work out. Two carseats and a double stroller takes up a lot of space. Didn't leave much room for groceries, or anything else for that matter. Since we wanted to be able to take driving vacations, we figured a bigger car was a necessity. I absolutely love the Honda Odyssey, and since Steve didn't have any objections, that's what we got! Power sliding doors, more storage compartments than we'll ever use, 3rd row "magic" seats (Honda's version of Stow-n-Go seating), 2nd row Plus-One seat (removable 8th seat) and a 6 CD changer. There's more, but those are the highlights. I'm just excited that the kids and their stuff don't take up the whole car.

Well, Happy Easter again! Here's a final picture to leave you:
