Snow Fun, Day 2
Here are the pictures from our second day out in the snow. Alex is learning how to walk all over again. Now the challenge is to walk in boots while being trapped in snow pants and a big coat. He was not really a happy camper. Evie loved it though. She was not a happy camper when we had to go inside because Mommy was starting to freeze (and hurt her back since she spent the whole time picking Alex up off the ground). Can't please everyone!

Let It Snow!
Hooray! The first decent snowfall of the season. And the first year both of my kids cared enough to want to go play in it! Unfortunately for them, I wasn't very organized or ready, which meant a whole day of finding all our snow stuff (hats, mittens, coats, pants, etc.) meant finding out that we didn't have most of it (who knew? Kids grow!!). The snow suit I thought would fit Alex turned out to only partially fit. We had absolutely no mittens that even came close to matching (no big deal) or fitting on little fingers (a very big deal). We had no boots for the kids at all, and their shoes don't fit with 2 pairs of socks on. Last night, after a quick visit to PetSmart to get to see Maddie (formerly Duchess) with her new pet parent, we made a run to Target to spend big bucks on lots of snow clothes. They are now ready to try the snow again today!!
I did get some pictures of their first day in the snow, and hopefully I'll get more today when we go out again. I've already promised Evie that we can go out as soon as nap time is over. At least it won't take all day to find their stuff.

Finally, more posts and pictures!
Yes, I know, it's been a while. But I do have pictures! See slideshow below, and click on it to see a bigger version. Sorry some are hazy. Me thinks someone was putting their smudgy fingerprints on the lens.
Much has happened in this crazy household. The last post was from July when we had just adopted a new puppy. Well, raising two toddlers and being pregnant with a third baby got the better of me. We decided to give her back to the rescue group in hopes that she would get in a home where she could run and play with a family that had more time and space than we did. She was adopted within a week, and is now living on a farm with a 5 yr. old boy and his family just north of here.
Speaking of pregnancy, we found out last month we are having our second boy. Just as Alex is growing into a sort of Spiderman role (he spends more time climbing than with his feet on the ground), I find out I'll be dealing with the same thing in about a year and a half! Or maybe not. Maybe this next one will like to be planted to the ground. Or maybe he'll just run really fast. Should be interesting. As far as names go, we can't make up our mind. Steve and I can agree on any girl's name, but boy's names are harder to come by. Poor thing is going to be "Baby Boy" when he's born!
We're getting ready to have a big preschooler around here! In just 2 1/2 months, Evie will be 3. Brag time for mom: She already knows all her letters by sight, can sound out a few (namely T, S and sometimes B or P), spells her name out loud, and can recognize her name, Alex, Mommy and Daddy's names when written. Of course, this just spurs me on to continue working on sounds, which means that Alex is getting all this info by default. Any letter he sees is called "eeeeeee" and sounds like a letter T. But that is better than nothing. We are currently working on colors with him. Next up is shapes.
Our biggest news is all about Steve. He has finally completed his requirements for his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Yay!! Now we are just waiting for paperwork to be completed and for the correct quarter (we applied for graduation too late this quarter), then we'll have the diploma in hand!
Now that I have an easier way to get pictures online and onto this blog, I will hopefully post more often.

New Addition
We've had a new addition to the family! Yesterday, we adopted Duchess. She's a 7 week old lab/boxer mix. This'll have to be a short post since she only let me sleep about 4 hours last night (and the kids are going crazy having something new in the house). On to the photos! Sorry about most of them being blurry, she's the typical wiggly puppy!

I've been promising...
...and it's finally here! New video of the kids playing. Most importantly, it shows the world that Alex can walk!
The video was taken a month or two ago. Enjoy!

News...
Well, if you haven't heard already (and I'm not sure who has and who hasn't), we're pregnant again! Woohoo! Soon the children will outnumber the parents! Baby is due early next Feb.
I know I've said it, but I actually mean it this time. Video of Alex walking (and playing, plus Evie video too!) will, with any luck, be posted tomorrow.

Evie Makes Her Debut...
You know you've wanted to see it. Evie sings a medley of songs, including "ABCs", "Fly Me to the Moon", "Elmo's World", and "Open, Shut Them". Plus, as a bonus, you get to see Evie just being Evie! Don't miss it!
P.S. Steve wants me to let you all know that he is not a terrible parent. He did come up from the basement a few minutes later to read to Evie before she went to sleep. :)
Coming soon: Alex walking!

The Latest Family Photos
I was looking on our Wall of Pictures (about 4 feet of wall space in our stairway) and realized that there were very few that had Alex in them. So, in an effort to correct that problem, we had professional family photos done over Alex's birthday weekend. I love these far better than the last set we had done a few months after Alex was born. Anyone who wants copies (Grandmas and Grandpas, etc.), let me know!

Happy 1st Birthday, Alex!
Can you believe it's been a whole year?? Neither can I! But it has been, and we celebrated it yesterday (his actual birthday was Friday). Not too many people came to the party, but we had fun with those who did! Alex is walking now. Well, mostly walking. He's still getting the hang of it. And he's talking too! Actually, he only speaks Baby right now, but he's learned a word or two in English. His first word? "Yeah" And he's said "Daddy" a few times.
On with the pictures!

And some video too!!

Long time, no blogging
Well, here we are!! I haven't put anything new on this page in over 3 months. I guess I have a lot of catching up to do.
Evie is now 2 years old. And she acts like it. It was almost magical. One day she's sweet and does what I ask her (for the most part), and the next day, the word "No!" suddenly become her favorite. I've been trying to be good about not phrasing things that are really important (safety issues, etc.) as a question so she doesn't get it in her head that she has options in those instances, but she doesn't really care. It's still "No!" I can say that time-out has been extremely useful so far. We've nearly mastered not pushing Alex down when he's doing something she doesn't like. Now we scream for Mommy instead!! Hooray! Her vocabulary is growing like crazy. She's a little chatterbox who comes up with new sentences everyday. A while ago, she was telling the cat "No kitty-cat, these are my noodles. No cat! Bad cat!" She's also learning to sing the ABCs! Right now, she tends to skip a lot of letters (E, MNO, R, UV) but she gets better everyday. She also sings "Fly Me To The Moon" and a few other songs. Our biggest accomplishment is moving into a Big Girl Bed (that would be a toddler bed for now). She's been doing well, although we did have to take a step backward in terms of falling asleep, but at least she's sleeping through most of the night!
Alex is a big 11 month old. Less than a month, and he'll be 1 year old!! He's getting more and more personality everyday. He loves to pull himself to standing and cruise around the furniture. He has just begun walking. Right now, we are up to a few steps, and they are very small. He doesn't get very far very fast so he won't walk a lot. He loves to dance, both on his own and up in my arms. And, last but certainly not least, he is talking much more. So far, it's mostly baby babble, but I have heard some "ma ma", "da da" and "ba ba" in there. He's even called out "Ma ma" when he sees me! Plus, I swear he says, "Yeah" everytime I ask him a question. His favorite toys are anything with wheels: cars, trucks, strollers, etc. If it rolls, or he can spin the wheel while the toy is upside down, it'll keep him amused for quite a while.
Steve and I are doing great. Steve is busy with work, and has taken up a hobby of his own (to balance out against my bell choir). Friday nights are now fencing lessons for him. He's only had 2 so far, but he has loved both lessons! I have taken on more responsibility at work and have become the substitute lead preschool teacher (only until the regular teacher comes back). I'm really enjoying planning lessons, working with the kids and just having fun! Evie comes with me to the preschool (even though she's too young by a year - I love the people I work with!) and Alex stays in the nursery. It's been an interesting adjustment, but I hope we can continue with it. Once the regular teacher comes back, I'll be just assisting again. Still a happy prospect!
Alrighty, time for the pictures! Enjoy!
